Las Posadas Celebration

Mision San Juan will hold a Las Posadas celebration December 22, from 5-10 p.m. starting at St. Paul’s. Las Posadas originated in Mexico in 1586 with Augustinian friars who wanted to celebrate extra Masses and teach the native people about Catholicism. Traditionally the celebration takes place over nine days, symbolic of Mary’s nine months of pregnancy. Today, Posadas celebrations occur all over Mexico and the United States.
